We know natural disasters are getting more extreme We know natural disasters are getting more extreme due to climate change—that’s why we’re investing in sustainability. 

We cannot delay preparing for the realities of our twenty-first century climate. It’s not political, it’s preparedness.
From the beginning, survivors have been told us wh From the beginning, survivors have been told us where systems broke down, where they were left without answers, and what must work differently next time. 

Yesterday, the Board received the second After Action Report on the January 2025 wildfires. Our focus now must be on turning what we've learned into action, for every city and unincorporated community in LA County.

Join the Native American Indian Commission (LANAIC Join the Native American Indian Commission (LANAIC) as the Third District's Commissioner!

The LANAIC is a 15-member body working to raise concerns of and win federal funding for LA's urban indigenous communities.

As we celebrate Rosh Hashana, may this time of celebration be sweet, joyful and filled with hope. I know there's so much we can accomplish together in the year to come.
Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 people who los Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and we honor their families, friends, and communities who continue to carry their memories. 

25 years later, we remember the way people came together to support one another. In our own community, in their example, we continue that spirit of service.

The Third District of Los Angeles County, which covers over 440 square miles, is home to over 2 million people.

Get to Know District 3

Los Angeles County’s Third District covers 446.08 square miles and stretches from the Ventura County line to Santa Monica and Hollywood to Sylmar and the City of San Fernando. Home to over 2 million people, the Third District includes portions of 10 cities, 26 unincorporated communities, and 49 neighborhoods in the City of Los Angeles.

The District is home to countless cultural landmarks, including the Getty Center and the Santa Monica Pier. It encompasses most of the Santa Monica Mountains and the San Fernando Valley. Its communities are diverse, vibrant, and are what make the Third District so special.
