Location: Van Nuys, Mt. Office, and Kenneth Hall of Administration
Duration:Â 3 months minimum, 15 hrs weekly
Overview: Supervisor Lindsey Horvath’s office is searching for an eager and motivated intern to join our team. The intern will work with our team on various projects and gain tangible experience in the field. They will understand the principles, functions, practices, and operations of the County of Los Angeles. These skills will prepare interns to be successful in a professional setting.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor district and County issues, current events, and relevant legislation, staying actively involved
- Assist in maintaining office procedures, routine correspondence, telephone inquiries, and special projects
- Provide accurate and complete information in response to constituent inquiries and community issues
- Support in responding to a variety of constituent inquiries and issues
- Interns are expected to work weekends and have reliable transportation to travel to/from events
The internship opportunity requires a commitment of 3 months, with interns expected to dedicate a minimum of 15 hours per week to the position. Please note that this is an unpaid internship, offering valuable hands-on experience in civil service. The internship program is designed to provide interns with the opportunity to gain practical skills, apply their knowledge in a real-world setting, and contribute to meaningful projects within the organization. While the position is unpaid, interns will have the chance to work closely with experienced professionals, participate in team collaborations, and expand their professional network.

- Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Able to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Able to provide support to staff with special events, constituent services, and special projects related to general administrative duties of the office
