The Office of Supervisor Lindsey Horvath is now accepting internship applications for Summer 2026. 

Role: Community Affairs Team Intern  

Application Opens: Friday, February 27th, 2026 

Application Closes: Wednesday, April 10th, 2026 

Location: Interns will be based out of the East San Fernando Valley District Office located at within the Zev Yaroslavsky Family Support Center, with occasional opportunities to work out of the Hall of Administration, West/Metro LA, and Calabasas office.  

Duration: 3 months, minimum 15 hrs weekly

Overview: Supervisor Lindsey Horvath’s office is searching for an eager and motivated intern to join our Field team. The intern will work with the ESFV Community Affairs team on various projects and gain tangible experience. They will understand the principles, functions, practices, and operations of the County of Los Angeles. These skills will prepare interns to be successful in a professional setting. 

The internship opportunity requires a commitment of 3 months, with interns expected to dedicate a minimum of 15 hours per week to the position.  

**Please note that this is an unpaid internship, offering hands-on experience in civil service. Colllege Credit potentially available**  

The internship program is designed to provide interns with the opportunity to gain practical skills, apply their knowledge in a real-world setting, and contribute to meaningful projects within the organization. Interns will have the chance to work closely with experienced professionals, participate in team collaborations, and expand their professional network. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor district and County issues, current events, and relevant legislation, staying actively involved
  • Assist in maintaining office procedures, routine correspondence, telephone inquiries, and special projects
  • Provide accurate and complete information in response to constituent inquiries and community issues
  • Support in responding to a variety of constituent inquiries and issues
  • Interns are expected to work weekends and have reliable transportation to travel to/from events

Desired Qualifications

  • Undergraduate/Graduate student 
  • Has access to reliable transportation, and can meet regularly in person 
  • Availability on weekends and afternoons 
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Able to provide support to staff with special events, constituent services, and special projects  
  • Support general administrative duties  
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines simultaneously 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision 
  • Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Educational Requirements

There is no specific educational requirement for this internship opportunity; however, candidates are expected to have a strong interest in civil service and a passion for making a positive impact in their community.
