SUPERVISOR HORVATH BRINGS CEO AND SEIU LOCAL 721 TOGETHER, AVERTING STRIKE

October 1, 2024

Los Angeles, CA – Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Lindsey P. Horvath shares the following statement after a meeting held in her office this morning:

Today, I convened a meeting with SEIU Local 721 President David Green and CEO Fesia Davenport to find a positive path forward following SEIU Local 721’s rally at the Hall of Administration last Tuesday. I am grateful to both leaders for agreeing to and signing a negotiation framework that lays the groundwork for addressing outstanding issues, and begins bargaining ahead of schedule.

Los Angeles County is fortunate to have a skilled and dedicated workforce that deserves our partnership and respect. By returning to the table, Los Angeles County avoids an October strike and reaffirms our commitment to honoring the dignity of the workers who provide the County’s vital social safety net services.

I am confident that, even in these challenging times, we can protect the wellbeing of our dedicated workforce while navigating the difficult realities the County faces.
