Los Angeles, CA – With a significant storm event across Los Angeles County now underway, Lindsey P. Horvath, Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, signed an emergency proclamation for Los Angeles County, joining Governor Newsom’s declared statewide emergency order.

The proclamation provides Los Angeles County with emergency powers to respond to, and recover from, the impacts of the storm. It allows the County to draw resources from state and federal organizations.

“Los Angeles County is taking action to protect our communities during the storm and to recover from any impacts that may result,” said Chair Lindsey P. Horvath. “This emergency declaration allows us to move quickly to deploy resources, and it aligns with Governor Newsom’s order issued today. The State, County, and the 88 cities of Los Angeles County are working together to keep everyone informed, prepared, and safe. Thank you for staying inside and off the roads.”

The emergency proclamation allows for expedited procurement of vital supplies and resources, the deployment of disaster service workers, and the use emergency protective measures, like evacuation orders, that protect life, property, and the environment.

All Los Angeles County residents are encouraged to stay informed and prepared. Evacuation Orders are in place for the Owen and Agua Fire burn areas. Evacuation Warnings are in place for other recent burn areas. For more information on evacuations, shelters, and to stay informed, visit lacounty.gov/emergency.
