TOPANGA BEACH BUS RETURNS TODAY, CONNECTING WEST VALLEY AND TOPANGA CANYON TO SANTA MONICA

April 1st, 2025

LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath, with Los Angeles County Public Works and Caltrans, announces the return of the Topanga Beach Bus. This popular service had to be paused due to the Palisades Fire and roadway impacts. With the resumption of service from the Warner Center to Santa Monica Beach, the Topanga Beach Bus offers residents an affordable and faster way to reach Santa Monica while Caltrans completes work on Topanga Canyon Blvd. and Pacific Coast Highway.

“The return of the Topanga Beach Bus provides a vital transportation option for our Topanga Canyon and West Valley communities as road repairs continue,” said Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath. “Though the beach bus is usually known as an affordable way to enjoy the coast, it’s now playing a crucial role in helping our residents stay connected in the aftermath of the Palisades Fire.”

“The restoration of the Topanga Beach Bus service reflects our commitment to building resilient infrastructure that serves everyone. This effort is about more than transportation—it’s about equitable access, environmental stewardship, and supporting communities,” said Mark Pestrella, Director, Los Angels County Public Works.

Service Advisory:

Please note, Topanga Canyon Blvd. is fully closed from Grand View Drive to PCH. The Topanga Beach Bus is able to take Topanga Canyon Blvd. with a Caltrans escort.

The bus runs seven days a week and will operate westbound and eastbound once per day until Topanga Canyon Blvd. re-opens and three daily trips will resume.

The Topanga Beach Bus connects two transit hubs starting near the Orange Line at Canoga and ending at the Expo Line in Santa Monica. This route provides an alternative transit route from the valley to the ocean which remains vital as the community navigates fire-related recovery efforts.
