Board Advances TGI Wellness and Equity Initiative

LOS ANGELES, CA — At Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath’s last meeting as Chair of the Board of Supervisors for 2024, the Board approved her motion to advance the Trans, Gender-Expansive, and Intersex (TGI) Wellness and Equity Initiative, a $7 million investment over two years aimed at addressing systemic barriers and improving outcomes for TGI communities across Los Angeles County.

“In the face of rising attacks on TGI rights across the country, Los Angeles County is once again leading with action,” said Chair Lindsey P. Horvath.TGI communities experience some of the greatest inequities in health, housing, and economic opportunity, rooted in systemic discrimination and exclusion. This initiative is our commitment to ensuring that our TGI neighbors have the resources, services, and support they need to live with dignity and thrive.”

The TGI Wellness and Equity Initiative will direct $7 million to enhance services and build capacity of TGI-led organizations, specifically where at least 60% of their leadership identify as TGI. Organizations providing health, housing, and human services to TGI communities across the County will be prioritized for funding and support under the initiative.

The initiative comes in response to urgent calls from TGI community members and advocates who have highlighted gaps in services and inequities in access to resources. It also aligns with County and State priorities to support TGI communities, ensuring that critical needs are met with targeted solutions.
