TAHITIAN TERRACE ACCEPTED IN PRIVATE PROPERTY DEBRIS REMOVAL PROGRAM – U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS TO CLEAR
May 6th, 2025
LOS ANGELES, CA – Following consistent advocacy by Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced that the Tahitian Terrace mobile home community will be included in Los Angeles County’s Private Property Debris Removal Program (PPDRP). The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will now have the authority to complete debris removal.
“Los Angeles County’s recovery continues—today we received confirmation that the 150 community members who call Tahitian Terrace home now have certainty that the government will clear their properties, bringing them one step closer to returning home,” said Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath. “Los Angeles County—with the incredible partnership of FEMA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers—are leading the fastest disaster recovery in modern history. To our Tahitian Terrace residents, know that we are here for you every step of the way as we recover and rebuild.”
In a letter to CalOES Director Nancy Ward, FEMA Regional Administrator Robert J. Fenton, shared: “After careful consideration, I agree with your assessment that Tahitian Terrace is a rare and exceptional case eligible for inclusion in the PPDR program.” Supervisor Horvath thanks Director Fenton and FEMA for their partnership and support.
Following the April 15, 2025 deadline to submit Right of Entry forms for participation in the Private Property Debris Removal Program, FEMA reviewed properties for special consideration at the County’s request. This included the Tahitian Terrace community. The County will continue to advocate for Palisades Bowl’s inclusion in the program to ensure residents there receive the same level of recovery support. FEMA has ultimate discretion on which properties are eligible for the PPDR administered by LA County. The County remains committed to securing equitable relief for all affected communities.
