LA COUNTY REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO REGIONAL CONTINUUM OF CARE

August 11, 2026

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles County Supervisors Lindsey P. Horvath and Kathryn Barger today introduced a motion reaffirming the County’s commitment to a unified, regional Los Angeles Continuum of Care (LA CoC) and protecting the federal funding that helps keep thousands of people housed across the region.

“As the future of Los Angeles’s Continuum of Care is debated in the courts, Los Angeles County stands ready to step up and protect the systems that keep our most vulnerable residents housed,” said Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath. “More than 10,000 people are housed through LA’s Continuum of Care rental subsidies—including people with disabilities and survivors of gender-based violence. We must do everything in our power to keep them housed, healing, and safe. The County is ready to work alongside the Continuum of Care Board, our cities, and regional partners to ensure Los Angeles has a strong, coordinated Continuum of Care that serves every community across our region.”

“The Los Angeles Continuum of Care keeps thousands of our most vulnerable neighbors housed and on a path to stability and we cannot allow LAHSA’s failures or federal uncertainty to put that at risk,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “Los Angeles County has the infrastructure, the experience, and the commitment to ensure continuity of services, but our first priority is a unified regional application that keeps this system intact. I’m proud to join Supervisor Horvath in reaffirming the County’s commitment to the Continuum of Care Board and to every person and community that depends on this critical funding.”

The motion reaffirms the County’s support for the LA CoC and its Board, while directing the Department of Homeless Services and Housing and the Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) to prepare to assume designated CoC roles if requested, support efforts to secure federal funding, and coordinate with the City of Los Angeles and all cities served by the regional system.

The Supervisors emphasized that continued County-City partnership will be essential to protecting federal resources and ensuring they reach communities across Los Angeles County.
