Topanga Evacuation Drill
On Saturday, April 18, Topanga Canyon will be conducting an Evacuation Drill for All Residents. Find your zone.
The Topanga Evacuation Drill is a community-wide event for emergency preparedness.
Topanga, with a population of about 10,000 is an extremely dangerous place for a wildfire due to high amounts of natural fuel, thousands of homes, and hard-to-access narrow winding mountain roads.
These conditions make it one of the hardest areas in Southern California to defend, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Full evacuation on short notice would be almost impossible, making preparation and early warnings critical for every resident.
Topanga Canyon Blvd will
NOT be closed in either
direction for this Drill.
Each time we run one of these drills LA County first responders refine their wildfire response plans based on your feedback and participation.
We are asking for all residents to take this opportunity to practice evacuating the area and check-in at the staging area.
All residents in the Canyon are encouraged to visit the check-in area King Gilette Ranch where you can get additional emergency information and resources.
The Drill begins at 9:00 AM with a test message from Alert LA County.
All residents are invited to visit the check-in station at King Gillette Ranch
There will be an informational Zoom meeting BEFORE the actual Evacuation Drill on March 24, 2026. Register here or visit tcep.org/emergencystatus for details or questions about the Evacuation Drill.
