MEET MARIA CHONG-CASTILLO
Director of Infrastructure and Community Services

Maria Chong-Castillo serves as the Director of Infrastructure and Community Services for the Third District where she oversees a variety of departments including Parks and Recreation and the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
She is responsible for the implementation of all Capital Projects for the Third District, through Public Works; which involves collaborating with colleagues on projects such as supportive housing construction, student and low-cost housing, and the development of a variety of public campuses.
From December 2014 to December 2022, she served as a Senior Deputy for Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, where she assisted the Chief of Staff in resolving complex issues with the County bureaucracy and within the community. Most notably, she oversaw the rebuilding of our Santa Monica Mountain Community, resulting from the aftermath of the 2018 Woolsey Fire.
From December 1994-2014, Maria previously served as the Assistant Chief of staff for Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, and as Council Deputy for Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky. She is a life-long Angeleno and attended the University of Southern California.
