SUP. HORVATH CONVENES MEETING TO ADVANCE PRODUCTION OF FOX AND FREMANTLE’S ‘BAYWATCH’ PRODUCTION IN LOS ANGELES

LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath convened a meeting at Fox Studios with local leaders and producers from FOX and Fremantle to support the successful production of ‘Baywatch’ at Venice Beach.
“Bringing Baywatch back to Los Angeles is not just important—it’s essential to sustaining our local economy and reinforcing our position as the global capital of the entertainment industry,” said Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath. “While challenges are inherent to any production, what defines success is how quickly and effectively we address them. Today’s meeting delivered clear progress: we aligned on necessary updates to the Coastal Development Permit, strengthened coordination across agencies, and identified additional pathways to ensure Baywatch thrives in Venice and across Los Angeles County beaches. Just as importantly, the lessons learned today will help inform and improve future productions on a going-forward basis. There is a shared, unwavering commitment from both public partners and the production team to make this season—and many more to come—a success right here in Los Angeles.”
“Despite the rumors, Baywatch was never leaving Venice or Los Angeles.” said Councilwoman Traci Park. “The City, County, and production team are deeply committed to the success of this marquee effort. We are excited to meet the needs of their expanded footprint in Venice and all along the coast.”

Participants included Councilmember Traci Park, City of Los Angeles Board of Public Works/Film Liaison, Fremantle, FOX, FilmLA, the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches & Harbors, Los Angeles County Lifeguards, the Los Angeles County Film Office, and the show’s creator.
Key outcomes from the meeting include:

Fremantle will request an amendment to its Coastal Development Permit to reflect more flexible production hours. The revisions are expected to be considered by the Coastal Commission at its May meeting.
- Expanded and more flexible use of parking lots and spaces within the coastal area to support various production needs.
- Communication between the production team, FilmLA, and County departments will be streamlined through a dedicated “concierge” onsite point of contact to provide real-time support.

Supervisor Horvath will introduce a motion at the Tuesday, April 14 Board meeting to allow limited drone filming within designated times and locations.
Production will remain based at Venice Beach, with additional Los Angeles County beaches included in the filming schedule as planned.
